JIMMY WAYNE NEARS FINISH LINE OF MEET ME HALFWAY WALK

Jimmy Wayne

Jimmy Wayne is less than 100 miles from wrapping up his 1700-mile walk from Nashville to Phoenix, Arizona. The Meet Me Halfway walk began on January 1st to raises awareness for the plight of young adults who age out of the foster care system in this country on their 18th birthday and often wind up homeless. The singer has crossed six states through extreme conditions, both hot and cold, to make his point.

Jimmy said, "This has been one of the most challenging, and at the same time rewarding experiences of my life. I know that might sound strange, but it's true. This journey has made me think back on the childhood I had. There were many nights I didn't know where I would sleep, and had no idea if I'd have any food. Even today, there are kids out there facing the same problems -- nowhere to go, no one to care for them. It's just amazing that in this country child homelessness and hunger are still issues. If this walk has helped even one child find a permanent home with a caring family, it's been worth every step. And if me doing it all over again would help another, I'm ready."

Jimmy will make his way to Mesa, Arizona on July 31st, where he and his band will perform a free concert at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill at 7:30 p.m. PT. The show will serve as a "thank you" to everyone who has supported him on this long journey.

The next morning, Jimmy plans to cross the finish line at HomeBase Youth Services in Phoenix. People are invited to meet him at Indian Steele Park at 8 a.m. PT on Sunday (August 1st) and walk the last half-mile to HomeBase with him. Later that night, the singer will perform a special invitation-only concert for area foster children at the Hard Rock in Phoenix. The show will be broadcast live via ustream beginning at 7:30 p.m. PT.

GWYNETH PALTROW: COUNTRY MUSIC HAS 'BECOME A PART OF WHO I AM'

Kelly Canter has rubbed off on Gwyneth Paltrow. That's the character the actress plays in the upcoming feature film, Country Strong. Gwyneth didn't turn into an alcoholic like Kelly is in the film, but she did develop a passion for country music that didn't exist before taking on the role of the has-been country singer, as Gwyneth tells us: "I knew nothing about country music. I mean, I was born in Los Angeles. I grew up in New York City, and I wasn't really exposed to it, so I was very daunted by the idea of taking it on, but I fell completely in love with the character and the world, and so I just started doing research, and I started at the beginning. I mean, I started with Hank Sr. and Johnny Cash and just started, like, educating myself."

Country music has now become a staple in Gwyneth's everyday life. "The amazing thing to me was that I really fell in love with country music. I never expected that it would become a part of who I am. It was a completely unexpected side effect of doing the movie. You know, now, like, I'll be having a party and my friends will be like, 'What are we listening to?' I'm like, 'Miranda Lambert -- love it! It's the best thing in the world!' You know what I mean, so I'm completely converted. So the whole experience has been as surprising for me as it is for you."

Gwyneth's debut country single, called "Country Strong," heads to radio this week.

The Country Strong soundtrack will be in stores on October 26th.

The move, which also stars Tim McGraw, Leighton Meester and Garrett Hedlund, will arrive in theaters on December 22nd.

REBA WEATHERS THE STORM FOR 'TURN ON THE RADIO'

RebaMcEntire2

Reba shot the video for her new single, "Turn On The Radio," on Monday (July 26th) in Nashville, but it didn't exactly go smoothly. The weather wreaked havoc on Reba and the rest of her crew while trying to film the clip in a century-old warehouse near downtown. The temperature inside was almost as hot as it was outside -- a heat index of 108 degrees -- but that wasn't the worst of it.

Shortly after dinner, cast and crew watched from the top floor of the warehouse as a fast-moving electrical storm blew in with lightning so intense that the shoot's generator was quickly shut off for fear of a lightning strike. A few minutes later, Reba and crew were rushed into the basement of the warehouse after hearing that a confirmed tornado had touched down only a few miles from downtown Nashville and that the tornado had spun on its tail and was heading straight toward the shoot location. Fortunately, after a torrential downpour, the storm passed over and the shoot continued until the wee hours of the morning.

During the shoot, Reba Tweeted, "We've had weather gremlins during our video shoot today. Hot weather, thunderstorms, tornado warnings, even went down to the storm cellar!!"

A bit later she posted, "Oh yeah, technical difficulties with generators and camera glitches! What's happening????"

Via a release, Reba said, "This is only the second time one of my video shoots as been shut down because of a storm. The last time something like this happened was on the set of the 'Does He Love You" video in Long Island. I hope that's a good omen because 'Does He Love You" ended up being a Grammy-winning song and a great music video!"

"Turn on the Radio" is the lead single from Reba's upcoming untitled album, which will be in stores on November 9th.

The song will be available at iTunes on August 3rd.

SUGARLAND TAKES THINGS 'BACK TO THE BASICS' ON UPCOMING ALBUM

Sugarland(JenniferNettles)

Sugarland's brand new single, "Stuck Like Glue," is currently on sale at iTunes to coincide with its release this week to country radio. The song is the debut release from their upcoming The Incredible Machine CD, which is due in stores on October 19th.

Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush wrote all of the songs on the new album, which the duo recorded earlier this year, as Jennifer tells us: "We were in the studio all of February recording it, and we went straight from recording it into rehearsals for the new tour. We decided we were gonna take it back to what is . . . I don't know. We're gonna keep it real in the old school, if you will, and really use the tour to promote the record. We're excited about new media and all that you can do, and you can do it from anywhere and just hit enter, and it's a great way to market to a bajillion people -- hey, we're all friends on Twitter -- but we thought maybe it might be a good idea to take it back to the basics cause it wasn't broken in 1978 so it's not broken now."

The duo continue on their Incredible Machine tour with a stop tomorrow (Thursday, July 29th) at The Pavilion in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The show features special guests Little Big Town and Danny Gokey.

The video for "Stuck Like Glue" is nearly finished. Jennifer tells The Boot that the storyline offers "a crazy twist on the storyline of the song. I play a crazy stalker and Kristian is my henchman. I have an obsessive object of my affection." She's talking about actor Ryan McPartlin, who plays Devon Woodcomb (aka "Captain Awesome") in the NBC series Chuck.

Jennifer said, "Everything is all sweet and colorful (with) pinks and reds and puppies and unicorns and stuff, and yet she is crazy and deranged, which makes it even creepier ... It was fun to play."
